Carrie Varoquiers

Chief Philanthropy Officer, Workday

Carrie Varoquiers is the Chief Philanthropy Officer at Workday, where she leads the company's philanthropic grantmaking and impact partnerships. She developed and launched Opportunity Onramps, the company’s flagship workforce development movement focused on closing the opportunity gap for workers and creating economic mobility for families, and she developed and launched the Foundation’s Just Transition Fund, investing in organizations who are reskilling job seekers for thriving-wage careers in a low-carbon economy. More recently, Carrie developed and executive produced a feature-length documentary film, called UNTAPPED, focused on accelerating the skills-based hiring movement globally. Carrie has launched and led various functions during her tenure at Workday, including Sustainability, ESG reporting, DEI, Employee Wellbeing and Employee Experience.

Prior to joining Workday, Ms. Varoquiers served as President of the McKesson Foundation and Head of Sustainability at McKesson Corporation, a Fortune 10 company.  While there, Carrie developed the McKesson Foundation's "Mobilizing for Health" grant initiative, which encourages the use of mobile technologies in chronic care. She also launched and led the ESG function and produced the company’s first-ever sustainability report during her 11 year tenure.

Carrie received her BA from U.C. Berkeley, her MBA from Golden Gate University, and her MPH from Johns Hopkins University.   She serves on the board of JVS in San Francisco and in her part-time work she leads a philanthropy and impact investing advisory firm, Cool Planet Food, where she works with individual philanthropists and impact investors who are interested in making an outsized impact on climate change in the next 10 years through a climate-forward and compassionate food system.
